⚽ Bristol City – Birmingham Predictions

Bristol City – Birmingham Tips and Odds. March 5, 16:00 ENGLAND: Championship.

Bristol City – Birmingham Preview

  • A 2-0 loss to playoff chasing Nottingham Forest last round made it three losses in four Championship outings (W1) for Bristol City, and a midtable finish this season looks almost guaranteed for the ‘Robins now’. A return to Ashton Gate will be welcomed though, as Nigel Pearson’s side have won four of their last five home league outings (L1), scoring two or more goals in each victory.
  • Matches at this venue have proven entertaining for the neutral, with the last seven all witnessing both teams score and a total of 27 goals netted overall! Bristol City continue to struggle defensively as a result, with 12 of their last 14 league outings witnessing them concede two or more goals, a streak that has contributed to 63 goals conceded – the league’s third-worst tally.
  • A torrid run of form leaves visiting Birmingham City just two places above the Championship relegation places, but with a 14-point buffer over the bottom three ahead of this matchday, a drop to the third tier for the first time since 1993/94 still seems unlikely. Regardless of that buffer, the Midlands side’s return of just two wins across 15 prior league outings remains alarming (D5, L8).
  • What’s even worse for Birmingham is the fact they haven’t won on the road in the Championship since a 2-0 victory against Middlesbrough back in late October. They’ve conceded 2.6 goals on average across the ten away matches since, but the ‘Blues’ have at least won eight of the last ten away league H2Hs (D1, L1)!
  • Players to watch: Bristol City’s Andreas Weimann is in red-hot form of late, contributing to eight of the club’s last 11 goals (G4, A4). Birmingham’s Scott Hogan has ten Championship strikes this season, and he’s netted five prior H2H goals – his joint-most against any one side.
  • Hot stat: Bristol City have conceded 5.89 corners on average per Championship outing this season – the competition’s highest tally.
