⚽ Cardiff – Peterborough Predictions

Cardiff – Peterborough Tips and Odds. February 9, 20:45 ENGLAND: CHAMPIONSHIP.

Cardiff – Peterborough Preview

  • Back-to-back Championship wins have propelled Cardiff away from any immediate danger at the foot of the table, though with the visit of 22nd placed Peterborough, the ‘Bluebirds’ certainly can’t afford to rest on their laurels as they look to secure consecutive home league wins for the first time since March.
  • However, after securing the joint-fewest Championship home points (ten) ahead of the round, victory is by no means assured. Sluggish starts continue to be a common feature on home soil for Cardiff as no Championship side has conceded more home openers (nine), which has left Steve Morison’s side trailing at half-time in eight of their 13 home league games this season!
  • This game has an air of ‘six pointer’ material about it for Peterborough, and with a crunch clash against their nearest competitors Reading around the corner, it’s crucial ‘Posh’ find some momentum. Having conceded in all 14 of their away league matches this season – shipping 2+ goals in 12 of those – a trip to Wales does appear unlikely to remedy their recent woes.
  • Failing to score in nine of their 14 Championship away games, Darren Ferguson’s side could be doomed if they again fall behind in this clash, especially as they’ve lost all 12 away league matches when that’s happened this campaign! Ferguson’s fantastic prior H2H managerial record vs Cardiff at least brings a glimmer of hope for Peterborough though (W4, D2, L1).
  • Players to watch: Rubin Colwill netted Cardiff’s FA Cup consolation goal versus Liverpool at the weekend, and four of his five goals this season have now come in the second half. Peterborough’s Jonson Clarke-Harris boasts an identical goal record to that of Colwill, and his two away goals this season have come from the penalty spot.
  • Hot stat: The last seven league meetings between these sides have served up an average of 4.43 goals per game.
