⚽ Coventry – Middlesbrough Predictions

Coventry – Middlesbrough Tips and Odds. September 11, 15:00 ENGLAND: Championship – Round 6.

Coventry – Middlesbrough Preview

  • After a busy transfer window which saw nine new players arrive at Coventry City, Mark Robins and his team will now aim to build on what is the Sky Blues’ best five-game Championship start since 2007/08 in terms of points on the board (W3, L2). That was, however, a season where they only managed to avoid relegation by one point, despite also picking up nine points after five rounds.
  • It’s been a happy homecoming for Coventry, who have won both home league games since their return to the Coventry Building Society Arena. They are favourites to make it three from three here, and their strong record as pre-match favourites since their Championship return suggests they will (W10, D5, L3).
  • No fewer than 12 players arrived during the passing transfer window, so Middlesbrough could name a new-look starting XI here given the time new acquisitions have had to settle in over the international break. New faces or not, the visitors haven’t had the rub of the green so far in the league (W1, D3, L1) but will likely remain confident of their ability to fight their way up the table.
  • Middlesbrough have battled against Coventry sporadically for almost 100 years since the first meeting back in 1924 (W18, D15, L16), although their league double last season was their first since the Premier League season of 1998/99. Grabbing a third H2H win in a row looks possible, as manager Neil Warnock has an impressive record across his last nine personal H2Hs vs Coventry (W6, D2, L1).
  • Players to watch: Viktor Gyökeres has had a hand in three of Coventry’s five league goals (two goals, one assist) – one more goal will equal his finest scoring Championship season. Middlesbrough’s Paddy McNair found the net whilst on international duty with N.Ireland – he also assisted in this fixture last season.
  • Hot stat: Mark Robins-managed sides have lost ‘to nil’ in four of seven H2Hs with Warnock sides (W1, D1, L5).
