⚽ FC Copenhagen – Dortmund Predictions

FC Copenhagen – Dortmund Predictions and Tips and Odds for November 2, 20:45 CHAMPIONSHIP.

FC Copenhagen – Dortmund Preview

  • There is little riding on the finale of UEFA Champions League (UCL) Group G as Copenhagen will finish fourth and Borussia Dortmund second regardless of how matchday six plays out. There’s still prize money and pride at stake though, particularly for the hosts who’ll try to snap a six-match winless UCL sequence (D3, L3) and notch their first goal of the group stage!
  • That said, they can take encouragement from holding both Manchester City and Sevilla to goalless draws here this term whilst losing just one of their last five home games in Europe (W2, D2). That record could worsen unless they can achieve something unusual though, as the last five times they hosted German opposition – including Dortmund in 2001/02 – they were defeated.
  • While their hosts sit mid-table in the Danish Superliga, Dortmund are handily placed towards the top of the Bundesliga, maintaining a four-match unbeaten run in all competitions (W3, D1) on Saturday thanks to some fine goalkeeping from Gregor Kobel against Eintracht Frankfurt (W 2-1). If only they could have found that same defensive resilience against Man City (L 2-1) in September, when they squandered a 1-0 lead at the 75-minute mark, and they might be looking ahead to the last 16 as a seeded team.
  • Instead, they’ll be playing the second leg of the upcoming knockout tie away from home so this could act as a dress rehearsal of sorts, although manager Edin Terzić will likely rotate his squad ahead of three Bundesliga games in quick succession before the World Cup, whilst hoping to maintain Dortmund’s unbeaten record in Denmark (W1, D1).
  • Players to watch: Copenhagen’s Viktor Claesson broke the deadlock in all seven of his goalscoring outings this term for club and country while another man in form is Dortmund’s Jude Bellingham, scorer of four goals across Dortmund’s five group games, all of them after the 30th minute.
  • Hot stat: Dortmund earned an average of just 2.6 corners per UCL group game this term (Copenhagen: 3.6).
