• Maccabi Tel Aviv’s eight-game unbeaten run came to a crashing halt as they fell 1-0 to PSV in the first leg of this UEFA Europa Conference League (UECL) knockout clash. The Israeli cup holders put that right domestically over the weekend with a 2-0 win, a result that if replicated again here would see them reach the deepest stage of a UEFA cup competition in the club’s history.

• That positive run could be set to continue in this clash if history is anything to go by, as PSV are unbeaten in five prior games vs Israeli opponents (W4, D1). All four of PSV’s wins against Israeli opponents ended 1-0, including both away games, while they led at half-time in three.
• Players to watch: Stipe Perica scored a goal in both games either side of Maccabi’s first-leg defeat, and seven of his last 12 club goals have been match openers. For PSV, Cody Gakpo’s winning goal in the reverse was his tenth in senior European competition, though his side failed to win in three of his last four continental scoring appearances (D1, L2).
