⚽ Nigeria – Cameroon Predictions

Nigeria – Cameroon Tips and Odds. June 4, 20:30 Friendly International.

Nigeria – Cameroon Preview

  • Nigeria will look to overcome the withdrawal of five players due to injury concerns as they target extending a current five-game unbeaten run (W2, D3) in the first of two friendlies against Cameroon. An early goal could settle their nerves here as Nigeria scored first in four of those games with six of their nine goals arriving before the 30th minute.
  • The ‘Super Eagles’ are in poor form in recent international friendlies though, returning just one win across 12 games (W1, D6, L5) although five of the six win/loss results in that sequence came via a single-goal margin. Continuing with the early goal theme, the team scoring first hasn’t lost in the aforementioned 12-game sequence with eight (of ten matches to witness a goal) match openers arriving before the half-hour mark.
  • Cameroon’s recent poor form continued with a draw against lowly Rwanda last time out which leaves the ‘Indomitable Lions’ winless in four (D1, L3, GF 1, GA 9) – losing each time by a 2+ goal margin. Three of those matches saw two match goals fall before HT – which could indicate more early action here – whilst three saw duplicate HT/FT results.
  • This match-up will prove another tough task though as Cameroon sit winless in eight H2H friendlies (D2, L6), failing to score in five such games since 1972! Recent ‘friendly’ form is equally as shaky with Cameroon winning just one of their last nine (W1, D6, L2). The team scoring first has remained unbeaten during this sequence, which assumes greater significance as two of those three results have come via a single-goal margin.
  • Players to watch: Belgian Pro League player of the year Paul Onuachu has been Nigeria’s last scorer with each of his three international goals – two coming beyond the 80th minute. Meanwhile, Vincent Aboubakar has scored Cameroon’s last goal in his last seven goal-scoring appearances including one against Nigeria.
  • Hot stat: Ten of Cameroon’s last 11 friendlies have produced under 2.5 total goals.
