• Steve Cooper has turned the tide at Nottingham Forest, but one task remains – winning in front of an expectant City Ground faithful. Any Forest fan hoping for an easy ride against Blackpool would be sorely mistaken, as the hosts can boast just a solitary victory over the ‘Seasiders’ at the City Ground in their last nine H2Hs here (D5, L3).
• There hasn’t been much to shout about for those Forest supporters on their home patch, with just one Championship win to their name in their last 12 games (D3, L8), with that sole victory coming back in April against QPR. Only Cardiff (ten) have conceded more home league goals than Forest’s nine this season and conceding first usually spells disaster, with the ‘Reds’ having claimed just one point after going behind at the City Ground (D1, L3).
• The only blotch on Blackpool’s record in their last six came in the form of a 3-0 humiliation at Huddersfield, but four wins during that spell has propelled them up the table after starting the league season winless in five. Neil Critchley’s side have profited from some ruthless finishing in those four victories, scoring six goals from 11 shots-on-target to give them an impressive conversion rate of 0.54.
• Blackpool are draw specialists on the road though, with three of their five Championship away games so far ending in stalemate (W1, L1). They can seek solace in the fact they were the sixth best performing away team in League One last season, and their ‘never say die’ attitude has seen them rescue five points from losing positions on the road this season.
• Players to watch: Lewis Grabban is bidding to score in three successive games for Forest, a feat he last achieved back in December 2018. On the other end of the scale, Kenny Dougall – who committed his future to Blackpool last week – hasn’t found the net since scoring twice in the League One play-off final in May.
• Hot stat: Eight of the last nine H2Hs at the City Ground have featured under 2.5 goals.
