Despite spending over €80million in the summer transfer window, Rennes’ start to 2021/22 has been underwhelming as they’ve won just one of their opening six Ligue 1 (L1) matches (D2, L3), and have even lost 2-0 in the previous three. In any case, with all six of their L1 fixtures witnessing under 2.5 goals, scoring first here will be vital if they’re to turnaround that poor early form.

They’ve been patient in their approach too, scoring four of their five away strikes in L1 after the 75th minute, more than any other side this L1 campaign.
Players to watch: Rennes’ Serhou Guirassy has scored headers in the 84th minute in the two competitive matches that he’s found the net this campaign. In-form Elbasan Rashani has scored four goals in his last four L1 games for Clermont, all coming after half-time.
