⚽ Swansea – Huddersfield Predictions

Swansea – Huddersfield Tips and Odds. September 25, 15:00 ENGLAND: Championship – Round 9.

Swansea – Huddersfield Preview

  • A period of four Championship games without winning, the last three of which were draws, is a somewhat frustrating run of form for Swansea City, who probably started the season expecting to be in the promotion fight after losing the 2020/21 playoff final. That might still ultimately be the case, but coach Russell Martin will be eager to get Swansea’s season back on track as soon as possible, starting in this clash between two previous Championship Playoff Final winners (2011 & 2017).
  • Despite that run to the playoff final last season, Swansea’s home form leaves a lot to be desired after a run of just one win in ten Championship games here, and none this season (D3, L1). They did own the league’s third-best defensive home record last season, and whilst that meanness has been evident again this term, their return of just one home goal perhaps highlights why they have struggled so far.
  • Although Huddersfield Town have more points now than at the same stage in five of their last six seasons, losing 2-0 at home vs a struggling Nottingham Forest last weekend suggests there’s still improvements to be made. Still, after beating Swansea in both encounters last season – the only side to do so – they should head into this game in a confident mood.
  • Having finished the previous campaign with the third-worst away record in the division (W4, D6, L13), boss Carlos Corberán knew the importance of improving their fortunes on the road. The fact they’ve already won two away league clashes after four attempts – half the number they managed throughout the entirety of last season – is at least a step in the right direction.
  • Players to watch: All four of Joël Piroe’s Championship goals this season for Swansea were either the first or last goal of the game. Across his last four appearances, Huddersfield defender Matty Pearson has recorded two goals, two yellow cards and an own goal!
  • Hot stat: Fourteen of the last 16 goals across Huddersfield’s last six Championship games arrived in the second half.
