⚽ Ukraine – Bosnia & Herzegovina Predictions

Ukraine – Bosnia & Herzegovina Tips and Odds. October 12, 19:45 World Cup – Qualification.

Ukraine – Bosnia & Herzegovina Preview

  • After making their nation proud with a quarter-finals finish at Euro 2020, a 2-1 victory over Finland saw Ukraine end a run of five consecutive draws in World Cup Qualification (WCQ) matches. Now sitting second in Group D as a result, Oleksandr Petrakov’s men could extend that top-two lead to five points over their closest competitors Bosnia with a crucial H2H win here.
  • Unbeaten in 12 of their previous 13 home WCQ outings (W7, D5, L1) – including a shock 2-0 win against group leaders France back in 2013 – Ukraine desperately need to continue that fine record here and win if they’re to reach next year’s showpiece and their first World Cup finals since 2006. A strong defence has been integral to those WCQ home performances, as the hosts have now limited their opposition to under 1.5 goals in all but one of their last 20 WCQ home games.
  • The race for second place is still on in Group D after Bosnia’s 2-0 win over Kazakhstan put them just two points behind second-placed Ukraine though, with a game in hand. Grabbing another victory here would push the visitors closer to qualifying for their first World Cup since Brazil 2014, although the task at hand looks complicated. That’s mainly because the Balkan state have still not registered consecutive victories in a single WCQ campaign since October 2013!
  • Currently on a run of five WCQ road trips without defeat (W3, D2), Bosnia have netted the opener in each of their previous seven WCQ away matches which could prove pivotal here. Also usually defensively strong from the off, Ivaylo Petev’s side have kept a first-half clean sheet in six of their previous seven WCQ away games which will further boost confidence.
  • Players to watch: Roman Yaremchuk has found the net within 35 minutes in three of Ukraine’s previous four WCQ matches, while Bosnia’s Smail Prevljak has scored in both halves in each of his previous two matches for club and country.
  • Hot stat: Group D has seen a WCQ-high 57% draw-rate so far.
